JOB DESCRIPTION

 Community Physiotherapist

 

 

 

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Physiotherapist is responsible for the effective delivery of physiotherapy services to Community Health Centre clients. The Physiotherapist will assess clients and plan and carry out individually designed treatment programs to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in clients.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITES

1. Client Care and Service Provision

# Cooperate with clients, families, community members and members of the interprofessional team in the planning and delivery of programs for clients,

# Provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of clients and families in Centre and in outreach locations including the home, school, and community, office 

#Liaise with other healthcare providers to provide and receive relevant information about the medical history and progress of clients, as well as referring clients who require other specific healthcare provision,

# Ensure education of clients/caregivers regarding status and management of the condition;

#Assess, prescribe and monitor assistive devices for mobility,

# Provide consultation to community as required,

# Maintain up-to-date clinical records using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

system,

# Maintain required statistical data,

# Plan and implement community fitness programs and,

2. Professional Development

# Attend and participate in conferences and staff meetings as required and,

# Provide in-service education programs to Centre staff as required.

 

3. Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS Education

# Bachelor Of Physiotherapy (BPT) / Master Of Physiotherapy from a recognized university;

# Minimum of One  year of related physiotherapy experience. Freshers can also apply 

#Comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy interventions, practice methods and

professional skills.

# Knowledge of other community resources

#Good understanding of the roles of other health care professionals and complementary

therapies

# Up-to-date knowledge of physiotherapy theories, practices and procedures

# Knowledge of funding agencies available to assist clients in accessing needed support

services and community resources

# Working knowledge of computer software (email, internet) and Microsoft Office

applications (Word, Outlook)

 

Skills

# Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse client groups with varying levels of comprehension and language capability

# Effective listening, observation and facilitation skills to effectively assess clients and provide appropriate treatment and consultation

# Strong mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to respond or assist in emergency situations

# Strong collaboration skills to manage service delivery in conjunction with health care professionals, clients, their family members/caregivers/substitute decision makers.

# Ability to deal with demanding interpersonal situations and respond with good judgment and understanding

# Ability to communicate information effectively through a variety of means including meetings, reports, letters and presentations

# Advanced oral and written communication skills in English to establish and maintain a wide range of contacts with health care professionals and community organizations

# Demonstrated ability to analyze and make independent decisions.

# Ability to think critically, and be innovative to create/modify strategy or intervention

techniques to suit the individual needs of clients.

WORKING CONDITIONS

For this occupation the use of precision or semi-precision tools or instruments or deft hand movements are required. The Physiotherapist will also have to do some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.You will spend many hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain.The main duties and tasks involved in this job require daily physical exertion, such as bending and twisting, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying or other effort where physical fitness is required.

Smart Physiotherapy will provide mobile physiotherapy unit - a full equipped mobile physiotherapy unit - with driver/assistants.
